3 mL vs 10 mL Vials: Choosing Pocket Sizes for a Custom Case

Updated October 4, 2026 · 2 min read

Short answer

pick 3 mL pockets for small vials and 10 mL pockets for larger ones. Use the slim 10 mL pocket if your 10 mL vials are narrow. One custom case can mix all three, and the builder keeps each size grouped in a tidy block.

How mixing works

When a case holds more than one size, the planner tries vial-first and bay-first arrangements and keeps the neatest one. You'll usually see one block of 3 mL pockets and one block of 10 mL pockets.

Height: short vials are raised

Smaller vials are raised inside their pockets so their tops sit at a similar height to the larger vials. Every vial stays easy to grip and lift out.

How many spares?

  • Fixed routine: match your count exactly.
  • Changing collection: add one or two spare pockets of each size.

Frequently asked questions

Will a 3 mL vial fit in a 10 mL pocket?

It would be loose. Use the right pocket size so vials can't move.

Can I change sizes after ordering?

Each case is printed to your design, so check the pocket counts in the preview before you order.
